Once you joint the “Fitness Over Fifty” club, you need to realize the human body is actually quite impressive. All the things it can do is nothing short of a miracle. But, for purposes of this writing, we’ll stick with the physical stuff, ok?
The human body can run, jump, stretch, flex, bend….just to name a few things. So what does that mean for you, the fitness over fifty person?
Simply put, if you truly do understand the power the human body has, then you would know it is important to develop and improve those traits as much as possible.
I’m not going to talk about which workouts you should or should not be doing. Why, because just about everywhere you turn, another website is popping up telling you to lift this amount of weight or do this exercise instead of that one, and stuff like that there.
If you’ve followed me at all, you know I’m all about basic KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) kind of stuff.
For instance, if you’re in a position where you can run, then move your legs one step at a time and run.
If you’re in a position where you can jump, then do it.
If you’re in a position where you can stretch your muscles, then do it.
If you’re in a position where you can flex, then stand in front of a mirror and do some flexing.
If you’re in a position where you can bend, then start bending your body in different directions.
“But Andrew, that’s all well and good, but how do I do it?”
Which is a GREAT question, and one where we’ll answer in another writing soon, but for today I just want you to realize your body CAN do these things.
I want you to realize and focus on what your body CAN do.
Why do I want you to get an understanding of these things?
Because, in the long run, once you realize the basic functions of your physical body, your workouts will be THAT much more focused, which means you’ll get better results because you’ll automatically increase your intensity of that particular exercise.
Can you see how all this works? How all of it can come together and become one?
Sure, this is more Zen Philosophy type stuff, but for someone just starting out, or someone coming back into the workout world, or for someone who’s been around for a while…..basically for just about ANYONE, understanding this is HUGE!
Keep up the GREAT work! Hey, here’s something for you, get weekly answers to the most common questions in fitness, get more details about this at this link.
